Fiberglass Radome Manufacturing Questions

What is the difference between a fiberglass radome, FRP radome and GRP radar dome?

These terms usually describe the same family of glass-fiber reinforced composite antenna enclosures. FRP means fiber-reinforced plastic, while GRP specifically means glass-reinforced plastic. Buyers may also use radar dome, antenna cover or fiberglass radome depending on the application.

Can DISLAB manufacture a radome from our drawing or existing sample?

Yes. DISLAB supports custom fiberglass radome development from 2D drawings, 3D CAD files, physical samples or reference products. Final tooling and production requirements are confirmed after an engineering review.

How do you confirm RF transparency?

RF requirements must be defined for the specific antenna system. We review the operating frequency, allowable loss, material system, reinforcement and wall thickness. Customer-defined dielectric or RF testing can be included in the project acceptance plan when specified.

What shapes and sizes of fiberglass radomes can be produced?

Hemispherical, low-profile, cylindrical, faceted and custom geometries can be evaluated. Maximum size, sectioning strategy and tooling method depend on the drawing, laminate structure, handling and shipping constraints.

What is the MOQ for a custom fiberglass radome?

The reference MOQ is 50 pieces for repeatable custom production. Prototype, tooling and first-article arrangements are reviewed separately because geometry and qualification requirements can change the practical minimum.

What is the production lead time?

Lead time is confirmed after drawing review, tooling status, sample approval and order quantity are known. A qualified repeat-production order may move faster than a new project requiring mold development and RF validation.

Can the radome be supplied with UV-resistant finish and custom mounting features?

Yes. UV-resistant gelcoat or coating, custom RAL colors, flanges, holes, inserts, access features and split constructions can be evaluated as part of the manufacturing drawing.
